COMPASSIONATE COUNSELLING

COMPASSIONATE COUNSELLING

There are moments in life that change us - after illness, through loss, or in the quiet in-between space where who you were no longer fits and who you’re becoming isn’t fully clear yet.

A tender, liminal place - one that can feel fragile, uncertain, and full of possibility.

This is a space to land. To soften. To exhale.

A space to be gently witnessed and held in your wholeness, with deep care for all that you carry.

Together, we make room for what has been experienced, what is shifting, and what may be ready to emerge.

Whether you’re finding your way back to yourself, moving through grief, navigating illness or change, or slowly discovering who you are becoming, you are met with presence, warmth, and compassion.

You don’t have to hold it all on your own anymore.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR FIRST SESSION
My counselling approach is warm, gentle and empathetic.
I come from a place of heart, curiosity and compassion.
How to prepare for your first session:

- Reflect on your "why" for therapy
- You can make a list of topics you might want to explore
- Think about your support system outside of counselling
- Keep in mind that honesty is paramount to successful therapy

- Block out extra time before and after your session to relieve unnecessary stress & allow time for you to process
Recognize that the first session is a blank slate. You and I are just getting to know one another, many questions and "house keeping" are normal
What to do after your first session:

- Do something slow & gentle for yourself
- Perhaps a treat is in order, you just did a hard thing
- Write down your thoughts, this gives you time to reflect on what was explored
- Pay attention to how your body feels after, does it need movement? Rest?
- Take a deep breath
If you cry or get emotional, that is totally ok and very normal! All emotions are welcome. You feeling comfortable and safe is vital to the therapeutic process.

A GENTLE, OPTIONAL TOOL:

I keep tarot and oracle cards within the space as a quiet, optional offering - something you’re welcome to weave into a session if it feels aligned for you.

These aren’t used for prediction or fortune telling. Instead, they act as a reflective tool… a way to gently illuminate what may be stirring beneath the surface, or to offer a starting point when words feel just out of reach.

If you feel called, we might pull a card together and simply notice what arises - what resonates, what opens, what wants to be seen.

From there, conversation often unfolds naturally. Sometimes it leads to something deep and meaningful, and sometimes it brings a sense of lightness, curiosity, or even a few shared laughs.

There is never any pressure to use them. I won’t bring them in unless you ask or express interest - but they are always here if curiosity finds you.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Your appointment time is reserved just for you. A late cancellation or missed visit leaves a hole in the therapists' day that could have been filled by another client. As such, we require 24 hours notice for any cancellations or changes to your appointment.  If you provide less than 24-hour notice but call or email me that you need to cancel, you will be charged for half the cost of your session. If you do not inform me, you will be billed for the total cost of your session.
